Course Description
This year, more than 30,000 people will suffer non-fatal electrical accidents in the United States. An additional 600 people will die from electrocution. If a year’s worth of statistics are too abstract to consider, see what one day can bring. Every day, between five and 10 arc flash explosions occur, each sending someone to a special burn center for treatment. This result is not surprising considering that the temperature of an arc flash may exceed 35,000º F. No matter how you look at it, the numbers are big — too big. And that’s why this training is important for anyone who works on, or near, exposed electrical equipment that is energized from 50 volts through 600 volts.

Learning Objectives
  • Understand why and how the National Fire Protection Association, or NFPA, 70E standard applies to your organization
  • Describe key aspects of shock, arc flash and arc blast
  • Use the tables to determine the appropriate protective clothing and PPE for specific hazard/risk categories
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the tables in NFPA 70E to determine the Hazard/Risk Category Classification for specific tasks

    Training Time: 36 minutes
    Testing Time: 10 minutes
    Total Time: 46 minutes
